Prioritization in School District Spending – Employing Tax Caps and Budget Caps

School districts in NH can adopt tax caps and budget caps help guide school boards and budget committees to more responsible budgets and spending.  Tax caps and budget caps help drive prioritization of needs and wants in the long budgeting process, culminating with annual meetings.  The 2024 NH General Court recently passed two bills, HB1105 and SB383, signed by Governor Sununu, that provide these valuable budgeting tools.  Come learn about how the tax cap and school district budget cap work, and how you can adopt them locally to lead to sustainable spending.
Eric Pauer, President of SDGA, has extensive experience with tax caps, including getting a tax cap in place in his Brookline School District, and will discuss all of the details of tax caps and budget caps, along with Q&A.
