Several major New Hampshire education‑governance reforms were highlighted in the September 2 webinar, “2026 Education and Governance Legislative Updates,” hosted by SDGA President Eric Pauer. The session reviewed 30 newly enacted laws that strengthen transparency, budget discipline, and voter access across school districts.
The reforms include HB 1300, which places a local school property tax cap question on the November ballot; HB 564, which adds structure and accountability to SAU budget development including warrant article voting; and HB 1807, which modernizes and improves the annual mandatory report to voters by school districts. Additional measures update various reporting requirements, fiscal practices, and parent, student, and citizen rights, while expanding public oversight. Notably, three of these bills were enacted through rare overrides of a Gubernatorial veto, underscoring broad legislative bi-partisan support for improved governance in these measures.
